Daniel Ricciardo is expecting Sebastian Vettel to come back fighting after beating his Red Bull team-mate for the second race in a row at the Chinese Grand Prix.

Ricciardo finished 24 seconds ahead of the world champion on Sunday after the pair found themselves going wheel-to-wheel for position earlier in the race. Vettel was ordered to let Ricciardo through, but initially held him up before eventually obeying the call from the pit wall at Turn 1.

Ricciardo is confident there is no favouritism or underhand behaviour at Red Bull and has no doubt that Vettel will come back fighting at the next race.

"I haven't noticed anything suspicious, so to speak," he said. "Obviously your team-mate is the first guy you always look at and I'm sure Seb won't be happy with his results. It's not going to make him not talk to me - we're still going to chat, I'm confident of that - but I'm sure he's going to work a bit harder and try to improve for the next one. But I won't rest either, there's still three guys in front of me we have to beat."

Vettel initially said "tough luck" when he was asked to move over, but Ricciardo was not aware of his team-mate's radio traffic.

"That's the first I've heard. We were racing and when you are in battle you always want to hold on to what you've got."

Ricciardo finished 1.2s off Alonso, but felt with a couple more laps he would have had a chance at passing the Ferrari.

"At the end I was doing all I could to catch Alonso and we got within a couple of seconds as we crossed the line. A couple more laps and the result could have been better, but it'll come. Ifs and buts - I won't give you too many of those and we just have to try and get it [a podium] in Spain. It's just making me more and more hungry each race."
