England are facing an anxious wait over Manu Tuilagi's availability for their summer tour to South Africa after the centre was cited in the wake of Leicester Tigers' loss to Harlequins on Saturday.

Tuilagi was seemingly lucky to escape a yellow card in the second minute of Leicester's Premiership final defeat to Harlequins for lifting Care off the Twickenham turf in a tackle. England coach Stuart Lancaster said after their win over the Barbarians that he was "pretty confident" that Tuilagi would escape a citing, but the outside centre could now face a suspension.

Tuilagi was picked up for "a breach of Law 10.4 (j) following a report by the citing officer John Byett," according to a Rugby Football Union statement, and will find out his fate on Tuesday.

If Tuilagi is hit with a suspension then it could place his tour spot in doubt with England playing South Africa in the first Test of their five-match tour on June 9. Jonathan Joseph shone for England against the Barbarians and could benefit from Tuilagi's potential misfortune if the centre is handed a ban.
