Profile

The general consensus is that Jim Furyk is a mighty fine player and one that should have more than one Major to his name.

With his unqiue, unconventional golf swing, 'The Grinder' has amassed 25 wins since he turned professional in 1992 - and none have come close to matching his phenomenal victory at the 2003 US Open.

Rounds of 67, 66, 67 and 72 ensured he matched the record for the lowest 72-hole score in US Open history and he won the tournament by three shots. Not bad for a player whose only ever coach has been his father.

Career high:
His biggest win to date came in 2003 when he tied the record for the lowest 72-hole score in US Open history to win his first, and to date, only Major.

Career low:
At the 2006 US Open Championship, Furyk needed a par at the last to force a play-off but he missed a five foot putt and a bogey ruined his chances of victory.

Quote:
"I'm disappointed. I played my heart out and it didn't work." Furyk said after finishing as joint runner-up behind Geoff Ogilvy at the 2006 US Open Championship

Trivia:
In 2004, Furyk only played in fourteen events after missing three months due to surgery on a damaged wrist
