England fall to Germany in semi-finals

England's hopes of defending their European title were washed away in the rain after they fell 3-0 to Germany in the semi-finals.
Phillip Zeller opened the scoring for the hosts in Moenchengladbach, when his shot from an acute angle snuck over the pads of England keeper James Fair.
The teams were forced off the pitch midway through the second half after heavy rain waterlogged the pitch.
When play resumed after a lengthy delay, England pressed forward in search of an equaliser, leaving their defence exposed, and Oskar Deecke doubled Germany's advantage with nine minutes remaining before Oliver Korn added a third two minutes from time.
England will play Belgium in the bronze medal match on Sunday, while Germany face Netherlands for the title.
