Platt hints Tevez could yet have City future

Manchester City first-team coach David Platt has admitted Carlos Tevez could yet end up having a future at the club, noting "stranger things have happened".
Tevez's fate is once again up in the air, after AC Milan pulled out of negotiations about a January transfer on Thursday as City stood firm on their valuation of the out-of-favour Argentina international.
While QPR have been linked with a loan move in recent days, if Milan do not re-enter negotiations there appears to be few viable bidders for Tevez - and Platt admits that could lead to something of a reconciliation between both parties.
"I don't know. Stranger things have happened," Platt said, when asked if Tevez could play again for the club. "Without being in that loop [on negotiations with Milan], what I'm led to believe is that unless the deal is right for the football club then it is not happening anyway."
Platt insisted the squad is not distracted by Tevez's ongoing saga, however - just as they will not be derailed by captain Vincent Kompany's ongoing suspension and the loss of both Yaya and Kolo Toure to the African Cup of Nations.
"It's the same with Vincent, we're without Vincent for four games. No disrespect to him, but we have to concentrate on the players who are available," Platt added. "Others are away at the African Nations. Circumstances have dictated that Carlos is not available to us, and so that is how we have to deal with it."
One player who should be available for selection for Monday's game against Wigan is David Silva, however, after he recovered from the foot injury that kept him out of Wednesday's Carling Cup defeat against Liverpool.
"David did a bit of running on Thursday and will do a bit more on Friday," said Platt. "Hopefully he will be back on the training pitch on Saturday."
