Muamba tweets picture from hospital

Fabrice Muamba has thanked fans for their support, as the first picture of the Bolton midfielder since his on-field collapse at Tottenham appeared on his Twitter feed.

Muamba has been recovering from a cardiac arrest which he suffered during an FA Cup quarter-final clash at White Hart Lane on March 17.

The former England Under-21 international continues his recovery at The London Chest Hospital, where it was reported on Monday that he had been able to sit out of bed for a short time, watch television and had started to eat.

The photograph, which shows Muamba smiling from his hospital room, was posted on the 23-year-old's behalf on his page on the social networking site.

The accompanying message read: "Fab wanted me to post this pic for you all and to also say thank you for such overwhelming support."
