Novak Djokovic showed impressive strength of character as he booked his place in the final of the Monte Carlo Masters, coming from a set down to beat Tomas Berdych.

The world No. 1, who is mourning the death of his grandfather on Thursday, was outplayed in the opening set, but picked up his level to claim a 4-6 6-3 6-2 victory.

Berdych, who upset third seed Andy Murray in Friday's quarter-finals, continued where he left off as he started brightly against the top seed, his powerful groundstrokes causing problems for his rival.

In blustery conditions on Court Central, it was Berdych who deservedly took the opener after a late break of serve. But Djokovic rallied to grab an early break in the second to force a decider, before powering through the final set to secure his progress.

Djokovic will play seven-time defending champion Rafael Nadal in Sunday's final after the world No. 2 beat Gilles Simon in straight sets.
