Boente not ruling out Vitali-Haye

David Haye's wish to fight Vitali Klitschko may still be granted, according to the Ukrainian's manager Bernd Boente.

Fresh from his impressive fifth-round knockout of Dereck Chisora at the weekend, Haye has again called out Vitali, who claimed the Brit turned down the chance to fight him on September 8.

Vitali is now scheduled to fight Manuel Charr on that date, with a career in politics beckoning for the WBC heavyweight champion.

However, following Haye's eye-catching performance, Boente admits the Klitschko camp are not ruling out another fight with the former cruiserweight king (he lost to Wladimir - Vitali's younger brother - last year).

"I can't foresee the future," Boente told Sky Sports' Ringside programme. "We have to wait and see for September 8 and then the elections, but down the road let's see.

"It could be Vitali, it could be Wladimir some time next year. At this moment, promotion-wise, I think that fight makes no sense after one year, but let's see. David is definitely a flashy person, a personality and he is always in the media, so why not?

"We are all in an entertainment business and I'm sure that the Vitali versus David fight would be a thrilling fight, an interesting fight and would definitely be the fight the boxing world wants to see."

Although Wladimir's fight with Haye was something of an anti-climax (Klitschko won comfortably on points), Boente believes there is scope for another Haye-Klitschko showdown.

"Without any doubt," he added. "I would not even rule out a rematch between Wladimir and David down the road, but at this moment it makes no sense because Wladimir's win was clear.

"There were no question marks at all, but Vitali's fight against David would be by far one of the biggest fights in boxing, not only in the heavyweight division."
