George Groves showed no sign of ring rust as he stopped Mexican Francisco Sierra in the sixth round of their contest in California.

Groves, whose British and Commonwealth super-middleweight titles were not on the line, was making his first appearance since November 2011, having been forced to pull out of bouts with Kenny Anderson and Robert Stieglitz - the latter was a world title contest - due to injury.

He extended his unbeaten record to 15 with a resounding triumph against Sierra (25-6-1), who has fought in decent company in the past - notably when he lost to Edison Miranda in 2009.

The Brit suffered a cut to his right eye, but did not let it hinder him as he floored Sierra in round six with a ferocious flurry. Sierra got back up - only for his corner to throw in the towel when he was on the end of another combination shortly after.
