Tottenham's move for Lloris collapses

Tottenham saw deals for goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, Shakhtar Donetsk's Willian and FC Porto midfielder Joao Moutinho collapse on Thursday.

France goalkeeper Lloris, 25, was the most likely deal to be completed, with the shot-stopper viewed as the replacement for veteran Brad Friedel. However, that deal failed late on Thursday evening.

Holder of 37 caps for France, Lloris is highly-rated around Europe, but it appears a disagreement between Spurs and Lyon cost the goalkeeper his move to White Hart Lane.

A statement on Lyon's official website read: "Olympique Lyonnais have not reached an agreement with Tottenham for the transfer of Hugo Lloris.

"The proposals forwarded this evening by Tottenham are very different from the principle which had been agreed on August 26 and which had allowed to open the discussions between the player and the London club.''
