Arsene Wenger is confident Bacary Sagna remains committed to Arsenal despite his recent comments about the club's transfer activity.

Sagna caused a stir last week when questioning Arsenal's summer transfer dealings. He said: "We expected Robin Van Persie to leave, but not Alex Song ... it was a surprise. I still do not understand. This is a huge loss for the club."

There are fears that Sagna has grown frustrated with life at Arsenal and he may seek a move, but Wenger is convinced the player has no plans to depart.

"Bacary's interview doesn't reflect the love he has for this club," Wenger said. "He has always given full commitment. Bacary loves the club and I think he will stay here."

Sagna is not yet fit for first-team action and Wenger confirmed it is likely to be at least three weeks before the France international is back in contention.

A player on the mend is England midfielder Jack Wilshere, but he is not in contention to face Southampton at the weekend.

Wenger said: "Wilshere is good news for us because he is making quick progress now. Next week? No. But he will join full training soon."
