Booth raises hopes of Haye-Klitschko showdown

David Haye's trainer Adam Booth has intensified speculation that his charge is close to agreeing a deal to fight Wladimir Klitschko by revealing that the situation "could change quite drastically in the next week".

Haye raised hopes that a Klitschko bout was on the horizon when he released a tweet on Friday hinting that negotiations had reopened over a unification clash.

That marked a dramatic U-turn in proceedings, as Haye had previously appeared on the brink of agreeing a deal to defend his title against Alexander Povetkin or Ruslan Chagaev on May 21.

But according to reports, Frank Warren has secured control of that date for one of his promotions, suggesting that Haye is clearing the path for a July 2 showdown - the only feasible date that remains, with Klitschko fighting Dereck Chisora on April 30 and Haye set to retire in October.

"At the moment I've just got to do what I've got to do," said Booth. "I don't want to talk about it. I'll just let David tweet whatever he wants to tweet. Maybe by the middle of next week things could have changed quite drastically."
