David Coulthard has dismissed speculation that he might consider a return to Formula One.

Coulthard, who retired at the end of 2008 and now works for the BBC as a pundit, told a Swiss newspaper he was not tempted to rejoin the fray even though he has been linked with a return to the cockpit in the German touring car series DTM.

"I think deep in my mind the desire is still there to race a formula one car at the front," he said. "But in exactly the same way I can see the reality that I had a good and a long career. I had great opportunities but I don't have them anymore.

"And so I don't use up my energy thinking about non-existent options."
