After consulting his company's lawyers, Pirelli motorsport boss Paul Hembery pulled out of Friday's FIA press conference at the Canadian Grand Prix as pressure mounts on the Italian tyre company ahead of its appearance at the FIA's International Tribunal.

The press conference featured other major players in the controversy, including Mercedes team principal Ross Brawn and the two instigators of the protest, Ferrari's Stefano Domenicali and Red Bull's Christian Horner.

Hembery, who held a lengthily press teleconference with journalists last week before the International Tribunal had been announced, left a chair empty in the press conference after he decided to heed the advice of Pirelli's lawyers and decided not to attend.

His regular Friday afternoon press conference at Pirelli's hospitality is set to go ahead.
