Red Bull still working hard on 2013

Despite holding commanding leads in both the drivers' and constructors' championships, Red Bull insists it will not fully switch its focus to 2014 just yet.

Sebastian Vettel took his sixth victory of the season at Monza, and with it extended his lead to 53 points in the driver's championship while Red Bull stretched its lead to 104 points in the constructors'. Title rivals Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton both played down their chances of catching Vettel after the Italian Grand Prix, but Red Bull team principal Christian Horner stressed that Red Bull has not won either title yet.

"There's still 175 points available [in the drivers' championship] and things can still change very quickly," he said. "Our view is that we have to keep pushing, get our heads down and get the most we can out of each grand prix. We will be pushing all the way to the chequered flag in Brazil. It's testimony to the hard work behind the scenes at Milton Keynes that we are able to do that and fluctuate between the 2013 and 2014 car."

Asked when the team would switch resources to 2014, Horner said Red Bull would continue to juggle the two programmes.

"In a perfect world it [the championship] would all be done by Singapore, but that's not going to happen and we have to keep our focus. We're juggling a lot of balls and spinning a lot of plates at the moment, resource has to move between the two programmes [2013 and 2014] and, contrary to belief, we are not the biggest team in Formula One. Therefore, we have to manage our time carefully and effectively and people are working very long hours at the moment. The effort is rewarded through the success that comes and that's why motivation has never been higher."
