Red Bull dominance here to stay - Wolff

Mercedes executive director Toto Wolff does not think the introduction of new regulations in 2014 will upset the current pecking order in Formula One.

Next year F1 will trade the current naturally-aspirated V8 engines for turbocharged V6s, along with a number of other significant changes to the technical regulations. Some teams, such as Ferrari, are hoping the new rules will offer a blank sheet of paper and shake up the order, but Wolff believes current champions Red Bull will remain competitive

"The performance is being driven by people staying where they are in the top teams, I don't see there being a big swing in the balance of power," he told the Daily Telegraph. "Obviously it could be a bit more of an engine formula next year, but if you look at the structure Ferrari has in Maranello and Renault in Viry, they are equally motivated. So I don't see huge differences."

Wolff said Sebastian Vettel's recent dominance could be bad for the sport if it continues.

"We've had those years of dominance of certain drivers and teams," he said. "People said it was boring when Michael Schumacher was winning all the time, now people say the same with Sebastian. This is the downside of success.

"Is it bad for the sport? Certainly one team and one driver dominant for a long time, that is not the most exciting thing. But the reason why I love this sport so much is because you can't cheat yourself, there is a stopwatch.

"At the moment they are doing the best job, and this is what the stopwatch says."
