Button sees future at McLaren, but no progress on deal

Jenson Button sees his future at McLaren but says he is in no rush to start negotiating a new contract beyond the end of this year.
McLaren have endured another difficult start to the season and Button said the focus was currently on resolving those issues before negotiating an extension of his contract.
"No more progress [on my contract] at all, but that's just the way it is," he said. "We're here, we've spent four good years together already. We're in our fifth year together and we both want - I think - to work together in the future. But it's just not the time yet, not the right time [to talk about it]. We've got a lot of other issues to solve first before we start thinking about the future too much.
"We're in a good place and I think my experience does help me a lot. I still feel very young at heart, fitter than ever and I have all of that experience, so I'm in a great position. I feel that I have got a lot more to give in the future in Formula One. I definitely can't see an end to my career. This is my life and it's where I want to be in the future."
Button said the team's struggles look worse from the outside, but he is confident McLaren's new management, led by Ron Dennis and Eric Boullier, has made the right changes to return the team to success.
"From the outside it doesn't look spectacular this year and it looks quite similar to last year, but it's very different. In terms of the feel of the car it's much better and in terms of the development of the car, it is working and we are going in the right direction. It's tough when you've been fighting for wins and the team is used to fighting for wins, it's difficult when you find yourself in this situation.
"But also there are a lot of positives right now, with Ron [Dennis] back in charge and Eric [Boullier] they are doing a great job at changing certain things so that we will be fighting at the front again. It just takes time and things don't change overnight even though we are pushing very hard."
