Jenson Button will wear a special pink helmet design for the British Grand Prix as part of a memorial for his late father John, who passed away in January.

John Button was a popular member of the paddock and played a key role throughout his son's career. Ahead of Silverstone, fans have also been encouraged to buy the 'Pink for Papa' shirt, aimed at raising money for the Henry Surtees Foundation, set up by former world champion John, which aims to assist and support people with injuries caused by accidents.

An additional 4,000 shirts have been made in the build up to the weekend after the original 1,000 fell short of demand.

"On a personal note this race is going to be a special one for me because it was always such an important race for my dad," Button said. "I'll be wearing a special pink helmet for the race weekend, and I'm hoping people will enter into the spirit of supporting the #pinkforpapa effort to wear something pink on Sunday to honour his memory. He won't be there this year, but he'll always be with us in spirit - I hope he brings me some extra luck on Sunday."
