Lewis Hamilton was able to put the recent turbulance from his title fight with Nico Rosberg to one side on Tuesday after being named GQ's Sportsman of the Year for 2014.

Hamilton is second in the world championship - trailing team-mate Nico Rosberg by 29 points - but picked up the men's style and fashion magazine's top prize at a star-studded event in London. Among the pictures posted to his Instagram account from the evening was a list of famous names he shared a table with at the Royal Opera House event - including Kanye West, Jonah Hill, Pharrel Williams, Kim Kardashian and girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger.

On accepting the award, Hamilton re-iterated his belief that the world championship is still a realistic feat despite the points deficit to Rosberg.

"I want to receive this for my family and for my team. I've been very fortunate to be in F1 for eight years now and I'm extremely grateful … It's going to be a tough road from here, but championships have been won from much further back than I am now. I promise you I will be giving everything and more to win this for my team, for my family and for my fans."
