Michael Schumacher still faces a long journey to recovery from the injuries sustained in a skiing accident one year ago, according to his manager.

Schumacher was put in an induced coma last year after a skiing accident on December 29 left him fighting for his life. The seven-time world champion left hospital to return home in September where he continues to recieve medical care.

A recent French newspaper report said Schumacher was making good progress based on quotes from former F1 driver Philippe Streiff, who was paralysed in a 1989 testing crash. But Sabine Kehm, who has been the spokesperson for the Schumacher family since the injury, has sought to clarify those reports.

"We need a long time - it's going to be a long time and a hard fight," Kehm told Reuters, "He is making progress appropriate to the severity of the situation. I cannot confirm that [report]. I can only confirm that I do not know where Mr Streiff has his information from because he has no contact with us and he never has."
