Former F1 race-winner Heikki Kovalainen will return to full-time racing in 2015 after signing a deal to drive in the Japanese-based Super GT series.

Kovalainen missed out on the 2014 season after failing to secure a drive for the season, cutting short a career which started in 2007 and spanned 111 races. The pinnacle of his career was victory at the 2008 Hungarian Grand Prix, where he became the 100th driver to win a world championship race.

The Finn will drive for the SARD team in the Japanese series. Fellow ex-Caterham driver Kamui Kobayashi recently committed to the supporting Super Formula championship.
