Brawn GP made £98.5 million in 2009
In its single year of competition Brawn GP made a profit of £98.5 million, with its directors, including Ross Brawn and Nick Fry, sharing in £20 million worth of dividends.
Brawn GP won the 2009 drivers' and constructors' titles, after its future was secured just a month before the start of the season by a management buyout. Bloomberg reports that the accounts, filed at Companies House in London by new owner Mercedes-Benz GP on Tuesday, showed a 38% increase in sales for the company between 2008 when it was owned by Honda and 2009.
The directors were paid €8.4 million in salaries over the course of the year and were paid back the €3.5 million they loaned the company to stay afloat in the build up to the season.
The filing also confirmed that Daimler AG's Mercedes and Abu Dhabi fund Aabar Investments PJSC paid £110 million for the team in November; a figure that Fry claims is based on future performances.
