Pedro de la Rosa has been signed up by Pirelli to test and develop next year's Formula One tyre.
Nick Heidfeld started the testing programme for Pirelli but was snatched up by Sauber to replace de la Rosa last week. For this week's Monza testing, Pirelli approached ex-Renault and GP2 driver Romain Grosjean and it has emerged that he and de la Rosa will share the testing from now on.
"So far, our work has been done by Nick Heidfeld, but since he has returned to racing, he will be replaced by Pedro de la Rosa and Romain Grosjean," confirmed Pirelli chief executive Francesco Gori at the Turkish factory where the F1 tyres will be made. "They will test until the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, and after that the teams will use the new tyres."
Gori also confirmed that the recent Monza test, where Grosjean drove a 2009 Toyota, had been a success.
