Virgin Racing driver Lucas di Grassi won Felipe Massa's annual charity karting event, the International Challenge of Go-Kart Champions, in Florianopolis at the weekend.

Di Grassi faced a field of professional racing drivers including Massa himself, Williams driver Rubens Barrichello, Toro Rosso's Jaime Alguersuari and big names from other categories. He won the first heat on Saturday night after an intense battle with Massa and ex-F1 driver Antonio Pizzonia.

He then retired from the second round on Sunday morning as IndyCar driver Ana Beatriz swept through the field to pass Barrichello, who had started from pole. Once the results of both rounds had been aggregated, di Grassi was level on points with Massa, Barrichello and Beatriz but won overall by virtue of his victory in the first heat.

Alguersuari finished sixth, behind IndyCar driver Tony Kanaan.
