Romain Grosjean is confident Pirelli's Formula One tyre is improving, after sampling the rubber again in Bahrain last week.

Grosjean was called up to test the new tyres in September at Monza when Nick Heidfeld stepped in at Sauber to replace Pedro de la Rosa for the Singapore Grand Prix. He was on track again last week in the 2009 Toyota test car, but running was delayed by a sand storm at the Sakhir circuit, forcing Grosjean to miss his latest round in the Rally Andros ice-racing series.

"The programme was quite diverse, including sequences of short and long runs, to understand the behaviour of the compounds," he said. "I immediately felt an improvement over the tyres that I had used at Monza."

Pirelli has just over one month to perfect its tyres before pre-season testing starts on February 1 at Valencia.
