Nelson Piquet Jnr is on the brink of securing a deal to return to professional motorpsort.

He was dropped by Renault in August, and then threw himself into the centre of Crashgate - one of the sport's biggest scandals. He admitted crashing on purpose at the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix to help team-mate Fernando Alonso. The FIA granted him immunity from prosecution in return for giving evidence, and since the hearing he has vowed to restart his career.

Recently he has tested in the NASCAR Truck Series and competed in kart races in Brazil. Now he looks set to reveal his plans for next year.

"About next year guys, there are some very good things going on, thank God" he wrote on Twitter. "I will decide about it soon. Very soon."

Earlier this year he was linked to a drive at Campos to partner his compatriot Bruno Senna, but since the initial reports no further information has been forthcoming.
