Whatever the outcome of the British Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton will be celebrating next Monday as he has been given the honour of running with the Olympic torch
It had been hoped he would be given the chance to carry it through Stevenage, where he grew up, but the itinerary means it is there on Sunday - while Hamilton will be otherwise engaged at Silverstone. So instead he will take a leg as it moves through Milton Keynes, Buckingham, Bicester and Oxford.
"I am so honoured to have been asked to do it. I never in a million years would have thought I'd get to do something so cool," Hamilton, who now lives in Monaco, told Reuters. "I have no idea where I'll be running but it's great to be the one."
