Concerns over Bridgestone's new intermediate tyre were raised after a wet opening day of testing in Jerez on Wednesday.

The bad weather at the Spanish circuit meant teams had their first chance to try the new intermediate, to be raced during the 2010 season. However, some reports revealed that the tyre wore out too quickly and lost around 2-3 seconds of time per lap at a very early stage.

"At the end of ten laps it felt like I was driving on slicks in the rain," Sauber driver Kamui Kobayashi said.

However, Bridgestone denied there had been any major changes to the tyres from last season, when no major problems were reported.

"The wet and intermediate tyres [for 2010] have no significant changes [compared with 2009] apart from the [narrower] width of the front intermediate tyre, which will now be the same as the new dry front tyre," the tyre company said.

The teams will continue to test on Thursday, although better weather is expected.
