No complaints for Massa after mammoth test
Felipe Massa said he felt absolutely fine after completing more than two grand prix distances at the final day of testing in Jerez.
After fracturing his skull in an accident at the Hungaroring last year, he sat out of most of the second half of the 2009 season. He has been training extensively since he was given the all-clear by doctors, but said he had never completed a testing schedule quite like the 160 lap marathon session he took part in on Saturday.
"We've never driven 700 kilometres [435 miles] in just one day," Massa said. "Physically I feel well, I actually thought that I might be more tired than I am. I'm happy for myself and the team: we concluded the foreseen programme and there is lots of data to analyse over the upcoming days, so we can prepare ourselves the best possible way for the next test session, without any particular problems. The only stop I had doesn't worry me at all, because we know what caused it."
At the first test in Valencia Ferrari topped the timesheets on all three days, but didn't put in the same headline-grabbing times this week in Jerez. Instead the team focussed on long runs with heavy fuel loads, showing impressive speed and reliability. But Massa would not be drawn on whether the F10 was a championship-winning car or not.
"For sure we can say that we've got a reliable car, but it's much too early for the rest, although I really hope so," he added. "The one who does the best work, day after day on the track and at home, wins the title. I'm not the most important thing here. What counts is that we know that we've got a fast and constant car."
Ferrari will resume testing in Jerez next week.
