Robin Frijns will test for Red Bull in the Abu Dhabi Young Driver Test alongside Antonio Felix da Costa after winning the Formula Renault 3.5 championship.

As he is not associated with a young driver programme, Frijns will now test for the reigning constructors' champions as a reward for winning the World Series by Renault title. It's Frijns' third championship in a row after he won the Formula BMW Europe title in 2010 and then the Formula Renault 2.0 series last season. His achievement makes him the first driver to win the FR2.0 and FR3.5 championships back-to-back, and he is also the first rookie to win the title since Robert Kubica.

Having led the championship for much of the season, Frijns entered the final weekend in Barcelona second in the standings; five points behind Jules Bianchi. Frijns took the lead with third place in race one as Bianchi could only finish seventh, and thought he was penalised for a clash which took Bianchi out of race two he still held on to win the championship by four points, with Sam Bird ten points back in third.

Frijns is already confirmed to test for Sauber in Abu Dhabi next month alongside Esteban Gutierrez, giving him two opportunities to impress in Formula One machinery.

Red Bull has announced that Frijns will run on the final day of the test on November 8, with its young driver da Costa - winner of four of the final five World Series by Renault races, including both rounds in Barcelona - driving on November 6-7.
