Fry no longer on Mercedes board
Mercedes has confirmed that CEO Nick Fry has stepped down from the team's board, removing him from some of the key decision making.
He remains as CEO but a Mercedes spokeswoman said he would now be an "observer" at board meetings rather than having a vote. A report in the Evening Standard revealed that Fry, who had been on the board since 2002 during the team's BAR days, stepped down on January 26 after new owners Mercedes and Aabar took a majority stake in the team.
As CEO he will still be heavily involved in the day-to-day running of the team and take part in its committee meetings. All the other board members, with the exception of team principal Ross Brawn, stepped down at the same time as Fry and have been replaced by staff of Mercedes and Aabar.
Mercedes is currently preparing for the first race of the season by testing in Barcelona alongside its competitors.
