A memorial service for the late Professor Sid Watkins will be held in London on January 18, 2013.

Watkins was the Formula One medical delegate between 1978 and 2004 and played a huge role in making Formula One a safer sport. He died at the age of 84 in September this year and a memorial service will be held at Marylebone Parish Church, 17 Marylebone Road, London, NW1 5LT on January 18, 2013.

Watkins, known in the paddock as 'Prof', worked tirelessly for safety improvement after being brought into the sport by Bernie Ecclestone. He stepped down as F1's medical officer in 2004 but went on to become the first president of the FIA Institute of Motor Sport Safety.
