Rubens Barrichello will race in the Brazilian Stock Car V8 series in 2013 after spending just one year in IndyCar.
Barrichello finished 12th in his debut year in IndyCar with a best finish of fourth at Sonoma, but could not put together the necessary funding to remain in the series for a second season. He competed in three Brazilian Stock Car races towards the end of the season and will move to the championship full time in 2013.
"I am excited to announce my plans to race for the 2013 Stock Car Championship in Brazil," he said. "After my 20-plus years representing Brazil racing all over the world, it is time to come home.
"It will be amazing to race in my home country again, while allowing me to be closer to family."
Barrichello raced in Formula One for 19 years and holds the record for the amount of race starts with 322 to his name. He started his car racing career in 1989 in Brazilian Formula Ford after making his karting debut in his native country in 1981.
