Paul di Resta believes a strong season for Force India will put him back in the window for a top drive at the end of 2013.

Di Resta missed out on a move to McLaren when Sergio Perez was chosen as the man to replace Lewis Hamilton who in turn had joined Mercedes in place of Michael Schumacher. Di Resta said that he doesn't believe his chances of a top drive have gone for the foreseeable future and hopes to impress again for Force India in order to open up more opportunities.

"I don't see it like that, I see it as seats opening up at the end of the year," di Resta said. "At the end of the day the relationships that have happened might not gel together and there might be opportunities there; I just need to build my reputation and put my nose in front of the people if it needs to be.

"But here we are, essentially the first day I've seen my car and I'll do my absolute utmost to make this car be as fast as it can and give me some great results. Whether that's getting on the podium, whether that's getting race wins or whether that's getting eighth at a grand prix, as long as we can say that's the best job we've done that will be positive and we'll continue to focus on just on-track performance and results."

With his team-mate at Force India still to be announced, di Resta said the uncertainty isn't a distraction for him.

"I'm quite enjoying the attention! At the moment it's a strange feeling obviously not to have a second driver around or have a reserve around but it's not hampering my preparations in any way, shape or form. I'm just fully focused on working with my team of people that's around me, working with everybody in the team to fully focus on what we need to achieve and that's a fast car. When they bring somebody in I just want somebody who's fast, competitive, somebody I can work with, develop forward and represent this team in the way we should as I have done in the past few seasons."
