Felipe Massa is confident his Ferrari contract will be extended another season but is keeping his options open in case he is left in the cold.

Massa is on a one-year contract with Ferrari but has been with the team since 2006. With Mark Webber leaving F1 for sports cars at the end of the season, Massa was asked what his plans were for 2014 and made clear that he intends to stay in F1.

"I am confident I will be here," he said. "I think I have a good chance to stay in Ferrari so we will wait and see. I will just concentrate on the races because it's the results that count for me and I look forward to having good races. I'm optimistic that I will stay in Formula One and have a good chance to stay with Ferrari."

"For sure we need to be open in case there is not a possibility to stay here and we need to be open for everywhere."

Massa has struggled for results recently after crashing during the last two Saturdays at grand prix weekends, however, he is confident he can get back to his best at the upcoming races.

"I'm not really happy about that but I think the performance is there and we just need to concentrate on a great performance here so we can stop having these problems," he added. "We have a good possibility to have good results from now until the end of the season and we are working to stop these problems and have consistent results all the time."
