Fernando Alonso says his relationship with Ferrari will be "perfect" in the future despite a lack of championships together so far.

Sebastian Vettel secured his fourth consecutive title in India, leaving Alonso on two championships which both came during his time at Renault. However, despite the relative lack of success at Ferrari, when asked how his relationship with the team has evolved this season, Alonso replied: "It was perfect, it is perfect and it will be perfect."

Alonso also said Ferrari needs to make the most of the final three races to prepare for 2014 having admitted he was never realistically in the running for this year's title.

"I think we need to be realistic knowing that we didn't have the chance this year to fight for the championship. At the beginning of the year we were a little bit closer but then we were not quick enough and we are fighting now for other targets which are the constructors' championship or second place in the drivers' as well, which is obviously not the main priority when we started the season but are still good targets to achieve and good for the team to have them.

"We need to remain very focused in the remaining races, try to do our best with half of our mind on 2014. We are competitive people, we want to win; this year it was not possible but next year we start from zero."
