Fernando Alonso insists his future is not his priority at the moment and his main focus is on helping Ferrari this year.

Speculation surrounding Alonso's future has increased in recent weeks as he has been linked with a move from Ferrari to one of its rivals. He is currently contracted to the Italian team until 2016, but rumours persist that he is in talks with McLaren about a move as soon as next year.

However, when asked about a move back to the team he left in 2007, Alonso played down the speculation but refused to confirm exactly what he would do next year.

"There has not been any word with them [McLaren] as far as I know," Alonso said. "Being here and sitting here at a race weekend with Ferrari it would not be very respectful if I speak about other teams."

Ferrari has undergone major restructuring this year with bosses Luca di Montezemolo and Stefano Domenicali leaving the team and the new management keen to put in place a long-term plan. Alonso said his main interest is in what is best for Ferrari, but hinted he would look elsewhere if he did not fit in with the team's long-term vision.

"I always put the interest of the team - and the tifosi as well as this big brand that is bigger than any of us - in front of my own interests. If there is something to talk about in the future and something better for Ferrari, then I will do whatever.

"I live for my job and I prepare myself from January 1 to December 31 with every team I drive for. It's no different here but it is more special because this is a different team and the best team in the world. I've been in this five years, giving everything in the track and the numbers speak for themselves. Outside the track, sometimes it was public sometimes it was not, my priorities are always in the best interest of Ferrari.

"I'm not living out of the world, so I'm aware of all the rumours every day that come out. It's not helping, as I said in Singapore, we are in the middle of a fight with Williams in the constructors' championship and I would like to help Ferrari to the maximum. This is the first priority for me - on the track side to help the team - and my second priority will be my future if there is anything to talk about.

"There is no news from last year to this year, to July, August, September and now we are arriving in October and there is still no news. Between races there are many rumours, so we will see."

Asked if he could deny he would be at McLaren or Red Bull either next year or in 2016, he added: "This is a very difficult question to answer. I will repeat the answer: I will do the best for Ferrari."

Alonso said he was lucky to be able to pick where he drives in Formula One.

"At the end of the day you have an idea in your mind and my mind is already set. I've been extremely lucky to be able to choose where I drive in Formula One, which is not normal. Normally you drive wherever you can and then you move teams if you have the possibility.

"We see many examples also this year and we see some drivers who may not be here next year and they are doing a good job. I've been extremely lucky to choose my own future and do my best together with Ferrari's best, taking the minimum risk."
