2015 Ferrari tipped to suit Raikkonen
Ferrari's SF15-T should suit Kimi Raikkonen better than its 2014 challenger, according to technical director James Allison.
Raikkonen struggled throughout his return to Ferrari last season due to a lack of confidence stemming from the F14 T's lack of front-end grip. The 2015 challenger is the first to be fully designed by Allison and he is confident Raikkonen will be much better suited to the car this year.
"We will only know for sure once we are running on the track, but I hope that the SF-15T will be much more comfortable for him with both a stronger front end in mid-corner and more support from the rear under braking," Allison said.
As for new arrival Sebastian Vettel, Alison is hopeful the four-time world champion can adjust to the transition quickly in 2015.
"He arrived in time for us to respond to his wishes on brakes, seat, wheel and steering - all the items that are crucial for a driver to be able to ply their trade. Once the winter testing is underway then we will start to benefit from his ability to describe clearly how the car is behaving."
Despite having two world champions at the helm for the second straight seasons Allison thinks it is important for Ferrari to manage expectations.
"No-one ever said Formula One was supposed to be easy. It will be a very stiff challenge to win races in 2015, but we have made good steps forward over the whole car and we hope that this work will translate into a notable step forward in our fortunes."
