Ferrari has launched a scathing attack against Niki Lauda after its former driver criticised the team's tactics at last month's German Grand Prix.
Lauda condemned Ferrari for allowing Fernando Alonso pass team-mate Felipe Massa to win at Hockenheim, and suggested the team would get a 'pasting' when it comes before the World Motor Sport Council next month.
But Ferrari have hit back, accusing Lauda, who won two of his three world titles with Ferrari, of hypocrisy.
In the Horse Whisperer column on the team's official website - which it often uses to hit back at critics - Ferrari claims Lauda will "indulge in some verbal acrobatics to reposition himself in line with the prevailing wind".
"This time, good old Niki has missed out on a fine opportunity to keep his mouth shut, given that, when he was a Scuderia driver, the supposed Ferrari driver management policy suited him perfectly," said the column. "That aside, where was all his moral fury when, over the past years, so many have been guilty of more or less overt hypocritical actions?"
