Ferrari boss Stefano Domenicali has denied suggestions Felipe Massa has been relegated to a supporting role as a result of Fernando Alonso's victory in Sunday's Italian Grand Prix.

Alonso lies in third in the drivers' championship, 21 points behind leader Mark Webber and 16 behind Lewis Hamilton; Massa is in sixth but is 42 adrift of his team-mate. In interviews on Sunday, Massa appeared almost resigned to playing second fiddle when he told reporters he would "continue to fight for the wins and for the good of the team".

But Domenicali insisted both drivers were still in the hunt and would be treated equally. "For myself and for us, the consideration is always that everyone does their best for the team," he told a Brazilian newspaper. "We have not changed our position from the start of the season, but maybe some others have.

"But for ourselves we are happy with our way at looking at the whole situation."
