Ferrari has confirmed that development of its 2011 car is on track and that it will launch it in the last week of January, ahead of the first pre-season test on February 1.

Although the team has not committed to an exact date, the announcement means Ferrari will continue with its tradition of launching the car in Maranello rather than at the first test. The 2011 chassis completed a number of crash tests before Christmas and the full workforce is now working again to hit its late-January launch date.

Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa will take part in their first media event of the new year next Monday when they travel to the Italian Dolomites to take part in Ferrari's annual Wrooom event.
