Felipe Massa continued his Formula One rehabilitation on Tuesday by driving a two-year-old Ferrari at Mugello in Italy - in what the team dubbed: "A very special Christmas present".

It was Massa's third outing in an F1 car since his massive accident during Hungarian Grand Prix qualifying, which fractured his skull and ruled him out of the second half of the season. In October he drove the same two-year-old F2007 at the team's Fiorano test track and he recently demonstrated this year's car at Ferrari's end-of-season celebrations in Valencia.

On Tuesday he was driving the F2007 on low-grip exhibition tyres as part of his continued rehabilitation before official testing of the 2010 cars starts in early February. Massa completed 30 laps in the afternoon and will continue to test on Wednesday if weather permits.

"I'm happy that I could get into this car, and it's always a pleasure driving on a track like Mugello. Everything went well; it's a pity that I could only drive in the afternoon. Let's hope I can be back tomorrow!"
