Ferrari unveils new simulator

Ferrari unveiled its new F1 simulator on Tuesday, designed to help its drivers practice away from the track.
Many teams have used similar technology in recent years, but this is the first time Ferrari has had its own dedicated facility. The simulator is located in a two story building at its Maranello base and uses five screens to offer the driver a view wider than 180 degrees.
"It's an important day for us as the completion of this project means we will now be able to tackle with confidence some of the challenges that make up modern-day Formula One, while putting Ferrari at the cutting edge in terms of this technology," said team principal Stefano Domenicali. "Furthermore, I am pleased that such a complex project as this, which got underway around two years ago, has been completed on schedule thanks to the efforts of all those who worked on it."
FIA GT driver Andrea Bertolini was the first man to test the machine, having worked closely with Ferrari and technology company Moog during development. In total, the simulator weighs two tonnes and is made up of a composite and aluminium structure.
