Fernando Alonso has shrugged off a provocative comment made by his ex-McLaren team-mate Lewis Hamilton.

Contemplating their explosive season together in 2007, Hamilton claimed that he "blew away" Alonso. In fact the pair ended the season on identical points, with four race victories each. When asked about the comment at Ferrari's winter press event, Alonso wouldn't be drawn.

"If I have to answer to all that he says I would use up too much time," he said. "McLaren, though, are a good team and when I went there it was a nice moment for me."

He added that he wasn't expecting to be at his best for the first race in Bahrain, as the current restriction on testing means he will not have enough time to get fully comfortable with an entirely new car.

"I have only seven or eight days to get used to it," Alonso said. "There is probably no other sport in which you can only practice seven times before the beginning of a season. Perhaps at the first race I will not be completely familiar with my new environment. But by the third race at the latest, we will see the real Alonso."

Reports from the press event in the Italian Dolomites revealed that Alonso fell and slid for 40 metres while skiing down the steep 'Schumacher' descent at the Madonna di Campiglio resort. He was unharmed and put the accident down to a lack of practice.
