Reliability essential for Ferrari at Barcelona test - Massa
Felipe Massa is confident Ferrari will start to extract the potential from its new car at the next pre-season test in Barcelona, as long as it doesn't have any reliability problems.
The car will be back on track from Tuesday to Friday after a mixed first week of testing in Jerez. After four days of running Fernando Alonso said his team understood roughly 20% of its new car, and Massa told the official Ferrari website that it is essential the F2012 completes some reliable running next week.
"There's a lot of work to do to fine tune the F2012 but, as both Fernando and I said last week, I think this car has plenty of potential," Massa said. "It will be important to do a lot of kilometres next week, because we have many ideas we want to try out and it's essential we don't have any problems: I know that on this front too, the team has worked assiduously to ensure that me and Fernando can do a lot of laps.
"I'll say it before we even start: again this coming session, we won't be looking at the stopwatch, especially as you can never know what your rivals are running. The truth will only begin to emerge in Melbourne."
Massa will take over testing duties from Alonso on Thursday.
