Felipe Massa enjoyed a trouble-free test on Friday at the wheel of a 2008 Ferrari in Barcelona.

He took to the Circuit de Catalunya as part of his ongoing rehabilitation, after he crashed at the Hungaroring last year and fractured his skull. MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi had been testing at the circuit earlier this week and Massa said he was keen to make the most of his team's presence at the home of the Spanish Grand Prix.

To conform to the winter testing ban he used low-grip demonstration tyres, fitted to the car that took him to within a point of being world champion in 2008. In total he completed 90 laps in changing weather conditions, and although no times were released, he said he was pleased with the run.

"It was a perfect way to optimise my form here in Barcelona," he said. "I'm really happy that I had this new opportunity to get behind the wheel of a Formula One single seater on a race track. I can't wait to sit in the new car and get stuck in."

Ferrari's 2010 car will be unveiled on January 28 before hitting the track for the first time at Valencia on February 1.
