Luca di Montezemolo has praised Felipe Massa for his performance in the British Grand Prix after Ferrari went second in the constructors' championship.

While Fernando Alonso finished second and leads the drivers' standings, Massa's fourth place was his best result of the season so far and more than doubled his points tally. Ferrari president Montezemolo was pleased with the performance of both the team's drivers but said it was important that Massa had returned to form following a poor start to the season.

"Fernando drove a great race after a great qualifying, putting a Ferrari on pole for the first time in a long time," Montezemolo said. "And I am also very pleased to have seen that Felipe was very quick, fighting hard and consistently throughout the weekend. It was very important for him and for us, because it is partly due to the points he scored that we have moved up to second in the Constructors' classification."

With the 30 points scored at Silverstone Ferrari's biggest haul of the season so far, Montezemolo said he was pleased with the team's progress but still wants more.

"In this recent phase of the championship, we have shown that we are competitive whatever the conditions and on all types of track. If I think back to the start of the year, we have made enormous progress, but now we must continue to keep our heads down and work hard, because we still do not have the best car. We are Ferrari and our only aim has to be to have the quickest car of all on track."
