Fernando Alonso has revealed that Romain Grosjean text him to apologise for the accident at Spa last weekend.

Grosjean is suspended from this weekend's Italian Grand Prix after triggering an accident that saw his Lotus take out Alonso's Ferrari, coming perilously close to Alonso's head. During a Ferrari video chat on the team's website, Alonso was asked if he has spoken to Grosjean since the incident, to which he replied: "Yes, I have a very good relationship with Grosjean.

"We were team-mates in Renault and after the accident he sent me an SMS on the telephone to say that he didn't calculate the distance and the problems and that there was many factors together and that he felt so sorry for the accident.

"I answered saying no problem. I know there was many factors on that start and in Singapore we will see each other again. So it was all fine."
