The FIA has confirmed there will only be 19 races this season after the World Motor Sport Council met on Friday.

A 20th race slot was being held open for a European venue, but after discussions to hold a round in Turkey or France fell through Bernie Ecclestone admitted there would only be 19 races this year. On Friday the FIA confirmed the news meaning there will be a three-week gap between the German and Hungarian Grands Prix in the middle of the season.

The WMSC also said "negotiations over the Concorde Agreement were proceeding positively in order to be concluded in the near future."
