Luka Modric insists he is "still waiting" to find out whether he will be allowed to leave Tottenham Hotspur.

Modric has made clear his desire to join Chelsea this summer, but Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has remained adamant throughout that the Croatia midfielder will be staying put.

Rafael van der Vaart said this week that he is convinced that Modric will remain at the club, but it appears he is still harbouring hopes of a move.

"I don't want to talk about that," Modric told RTE Sport when asked about his future. "I said before what I think and that's it.

"I said a lot of things before and still everything is the same at the moment. I will see - I'm still waiting."

Despite his own desire to leave, Modric - speaking after Croatia's friendly with Ireland - said he hopes to see Robbie Keane remain at White Hart Lane.

"I would like him to stay but I know he wants to play," he said. "If that is not possible at Tottenham, he will probably try to find other options, but I would like him to stay and to play for us.

"He's a great player. What can I say? I don't know what will happen."

Asked again whether he would still be at the club at the end of the transfer window, Modric smiled and said, "See you", before walking away.
